Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary

Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Thrissur district of Kerala, is one of the state’s oldest protected areas and a vital part of its ecological network. Established in 1958, this sanctuary spans over 125 square kilometers and forms part of the Western Ghats’ evergreen and semi-evergreen forest belt. Its landscape, dotted with rolling hills, dense vegetation, and serene reservoirs, provides a perfect setting for peaceful getaways and immersive nature experiences.

The sanctuary is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including elephants, leopards, sambar deer, and numerous species of birds, butterflies, and reptiles. The rich biodiversity is supported by the Peechi and Vazhani reservoirs, which also supply drinking water to nearby regions. The area is a paradise for birdwatchers and botanists, with over 50 species of orchids and medicinal plants thriving in the wild.
