1. Kalaripayattu Training
At Madhava Matam CVN Kalari, Kalaripayattu training is designed to develop physical strength, flexibility, mental focus and self confidence. Students begin their journey with foundational body conditioning exercises that improve balance, endurance, agility and coordination. These initial training sequences help prepare the body for the advanced stages of martial arts practice while building discipline and perseverance.
As students progress, they are introduced to traditional weapon training, learning the proper techniques for handling both wooden and metal weapons. This stage emphasizes precision, control, stability, and strategic movement. Advanced instruction also includes empty-hand combat techniques and the study of vital points of the human body, enabling practitioners to understand both self-defense and traditional martial knowledge.

Trainings provided
Regular Training:

  • Regular classes - Morning 6:00 am to 8:00 am (Monday - Friday)
  • Special classes for Children - Morning 6:00 am to 8:00 am (Saturday & Sunday)

Special Classes for Theatre Students:
  • Basic Level of Training: 2 months of training will cover the basic of Meythari, which improve body kinetics and is useful for dancers and theatre people.
  • Advanced training is always depends on the proficiency in Meythari.

Special Classes for Foreigners:
  • Evening Classes will be arranged if requested for special attention, but progressive studies will always depend on the proficiency and flexibility of the student.

Performances & Workshop:
  • Performance can be arranged for a group of 25 members in Kalari premises by one week time of prior booking.
  • Performances and workshop outside kalari can be conducted on two weeks notification for the arrangements of performing team. Travelling expenses, food and accommodation should be arranged by the organizers.

Basic: 45 minutes
Advanced : 1 hour

2. Marma Chikitsa
Madhava Matam CVN Kalari also preserves the ancient healing traditions closely associated with Kalaripayattu through Marma Chikitsa and Kalari therapy. Developed over generations by skilled Gurukkals, these therapeutic methods focus on restoring physical well being, improving mobility and supporting recovery from injuries affecting muscles, joints and soft tissues.

3. Uzhichil:
A key component of Kalari therapy is Uzhichil, a traditional massage technique performed by trained practitioners using carefully controlled movements and pressure. Drawing upon extensive knowledge of the body's vital energy points, this therapy is known for enhancing flexibility, promoting circulation, relieving muscular tension and supporting overall physical wellness.
