Preserving the Legacy of E. N. S. Kalari Since 1954
E. N. S. Kalari, located in Nettur, Ernakulam, is one of Kerala’s respected institutions dedicated to preserving and promoting the ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu and its associated healing traditions. Established in 1954 by Sripathi Embranthiri, popularly known as Mani Swamy, the kalari has played a significant role in training generations of students in both the Northern and Southern styles of Kalaripayattu. Through decades of dedicated service, the institution has become a recognized center for martial arts education, cultural preservation, and traditional healing practices.
The founder overcame significant social barriers to master Kalaripayattu and Marmachikitsa under renowned Gurukkals, eventually establishing a training center that would become a landmark for martial arts enthusiasts. Today, E. N. S. Kalari continues its mission under the leadership of E. S. Narayanan Embranthiri and E. S. Vijayasree Embranthiri who have expanded its reach through training programs, demonstrations, workshops and international cultural exchanges. The institution remains committed to preserving Kerala’s martial heritage while making it accessible to students from India and around the world.
